Hampshire County Council have recently launched a survey to help them identify physical barriers to walking and wheeling, cycling and scooting. The survey, which is open until Sunday 22 December 2024, seeks feedback to help pinpoint locations where there are obstacles, such as bollards, that make getting around difficult for people, including those who have restricted mobility and need to use a mobility scooter, or for those pushing prams or riding adapted bikes for example.
https://www.hants.gov.uk/News/20241101SurveyWalkCycleBarriers The survey is quick to fill in and you can report multiple locations by submitting the survey and then commenting on another location. This follows some recent work in Chandlers Ford to remove barriers which has had really positive feedback and has improved access to schools, shops and local facilities. Examples of this work can be found on link above. This is a great opportunity to highlight all of the missing pedestrian crossing points, obstructions on footways, incorrect signage on the cycle network as well as highlighting missing tactile paving on walking routes and at crossing points for your area. From Monday 11th November to Friday 15 November, SGN contractors FPF Utilities Limited will replace the gas main on Grange Road, Netley Abbey. These essential works are required to address leakage on the gas main, they will involve replacing old metal low pressure gas pipes and replacing them with new plastic gas mains.
Due to the location of the gas pipe in the road, for everyone’s safety and avoid road closures it will be necessary to have temporary traffic lights in use around our work area. From 11 November to 15 November Location - Grange Road Duration - 1 weeks Traffic management type - Multi-way signals 24/7 with manual control 07:00 to 19:00- weekdays. |
