Thank you to everyone who turned up to the Cricket Field for the VE Day commemoration and beacon lighting. The council is delighted to see such a warm community atompshere. Thank you to our local Royal Brisith Legion branch for their attendance and support, Margaret Hoadley for delievring a short service of remembrance, Councollor Maureen Queen for the exhortation Cherrywood for providing refreshments and lastly St Andrew's Pipers for the music.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory In Europe Day), which signified the end of World War II in Europe on May 8th 1945.
Hound Parish Council will be holding an event to commemorate this significant milestone, which will take place at the Cricket Field, Victoria Road, SO31 5FA (next to Abbey Hall). All members of the public are cordially invited to attend from 8:30pm onwards. The evening will feature a performance by a pipe band at 9:00pm, followed by the lighting of the beacon at 9:30pm.
