We at Hound Parish Council loved seeing everyone's houses lit up last year, so we're running our Christmas decoration competition once again!
Competition Categories to enter:
BEST HOME
kindly sponsored by Netley Garage Ltd |
BEST BUSINESS
kindly sponsored by Property Matters Ltd |
MOST CREATIVE
sponsored by Hound Parish Council |
*MOST CREATIVE is up to your interpretation. Will you wind lights around the old wheelbarrow and add stick-antlers to make a reindeer? Will you make your own snowman out of papier-mâché and display him on your front porch? Will you cut out paper snowflakes to stick in the window? The limit is your imagination!
There will be a total of 100 points to be awarded based on the criteria below:
Judges will pay particular attention to those creating more with less (it’s not about how much money can be spent on decorations).
- First Impression - 30 points How do people react when they first see your house? Are they in awe, do they feel nostalgic, is it funny?
- Theme - 30 points. Do your decorations come together to form a theme? e.g. Snow day, Santa's house, conveying a Christmas song.
- Creativity - 30 points How original are your decorations? Have you gone out of your way to defy expectations? Environmental elements including recycling, upcycling, use of non-purchased Christmas decorations, energy conservation etc will be heavily taken into account.
- Public vote - 10 points. How much do you personally like the display? We will create a map for you to go round and mark out of 10 - this will need to be submitted to us by midnight on the 22nd December.
