Feedback Wanted on the Giddy Goose Food Van

The Parish Council are really happy to support a new local business by allowing them to park on our land. With more people staying in the UK this year and the different food offerings provided by the Giddy Goose to what is already available within the parish, members believed this was worthwhile supporting and gave temporary permission for the Giddy Goose to trade on our land.

The agreement is on a trial basis until the end of September 2020 and we would welcome all feedback from parishioners before any further decisions are debated regarding a more permanent agreement.

As you know we are a Netley Nibbles and more than happy to support this but would like conditions in place to ensure that they do not change the menu to include anything that Nibbles provides. As you have supported the Giddy Goose would love some support to have some signage at the end of Station Road to sign post passers by raising awareness of Nibbles. We have had absolutely fantastic support from the Netley community and they are brilliant - would like to target visitors to the area that may not be aware of Nibbles despite spending lots of money on marketing - thank you

Hi Maria,

Thank you for your comments and these will be included with all feedback presented to members should the GG apply to become a permanent addition or extend their trial.

The permission for signage falls within EBC's and Highways control and you would need to apply to those authorities. However, we are happy to place a link supporting all local businesses on our website. If you would like to have NN's added please let me know.

We are writing to express our concern over the continued siting of the Giddy Goose, opposite Sophie's Pond.

Although we have no objections to a van selling food we do object to how this impacts on what has been a peaceful location for all to enjoy.

This area, recently enhanced by installing seating commemorating 100 years since the end of WWI, attracts people of all ages, either to visit the pond or sit and enjoy views over the Solent. However since the arrival of the Giddy Goose van this is no longer a peaceful environment on Saturdays due to the constant noise and air pollution from their generator.

There was a similar problem in RVCP a few years ago with noise and air pollution from a generator used to operate the bouncy castle. This was solved by the owners changing the generator to a more environmentally friendly one.

If continued use is granted we ask that it would be on the condition that a less polluting means of operating could be sourced. Maybe they could explore an arrangement with the Sea Scouts to use their mains power.

Thank you for your comments which I have added to the feedback form. The Giddy Goose have requested a more permanent agreement and this will be discussed in the Council meeting on Monday 12th October. All of the comments that have been submitted on the feedback form will be available for members before the meeting to help them make a decision.
