Eastleigh Borough Council is providing the opportunity for residents to give their thoughts and comments on how to make our Borough a healthier, cleaner and safer place for all by reducing air pollution.
Residents can provide their thoughts and views on proposed actions to help improve air quality across the Borough. These actions will form a key element of our new Air Quality Action Plan which aims to reduce pollution in the worst affected areas and will also have benefits across the whole Borough. One of the areas addressed is around Hamble Lane, where ongoing air quality issues have just resulted in an extension of the Air Quality Management Area declared in this location. The Council has a responsibility to review and assess air quality across the Borough and has a long history of monitoring and delivering initiatives to tackle air quality issues. The new Action Plan is an important continuation of this and will also support work around the recently declared climate change and environment emergency. The public consultation will run from Monday 2 September – to Friday 11 October on these proposed actions. Cabinet Lead for Transport Cllr David Airey said, “Poor air quality affects everyone and the Council, residents, businesses and other local groups and organisations all have a role to play in effectively tackling this issue. This is why I encourage residents to have their say and provide their input in helping to create a dynamic plan which everyone can work together to achieve.” Find out more and give us your views
