Each year the Hampshire Association of Local Councils (HALC) hold a Village of the Year awards competition. This consists of a number of categories, including the main prize of being awarded Village of the Year within Hampshire.
The awards were set up to highlight the fantastic work that is done across Hampshire by the many Town and Parish Councils. All Town and Parish Councils consist of volunteers who give up their time to improve their areas and work hard to try and ensure that each decision made is in the best interests for everyone that it may effect within their local community. The 2018 Village of the Year winners were Chandlers Ford and they hosted this years event on Wednesday 25th September, where we were shortlisted in 4 categories: Best Community Event (we won this in 2018) - Light up Netley Community Engagement - For the engagement around the Butlocks Heath play area Inspirational Individual - Councillor Simon Guillan for his work around changing and updating our IT Best Community Initiative - For the redesign of our website and how that links to the office IT systems, ensuring it is quick and easy to update our own website with news relevant to the parish We are incredibly proud to announce the results: Winners Best Community Initiative Inspirational Individual - Councillor Simon Guillan Runner up Best Community Event Community Engagement A big thank you goes out to all Councillors for the time and hard work that they give to the Towns and Parishes, HALC for the competition that recognises the hard work of all of the volunteers and staff across all Town and Parish Councils within Hampshire, Chandlers Ford for hosting the evening and everyone involved in whatever way in improving their local community.
